But we can\u2019t continue expecting to improve productivity through transactional employee relationships.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cCollectively, as executives and HR leaders, we need to be re-engineering the way we&#8217;re thinking about our relationship with talent,\u201d Ryan said, \u201cand the way we approach organizing ourselves to accomplish meaningful results at work.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-vimeo wp-block-embed-vimeo wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Momentum Through Harmony\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/909532890?dnt=1&amp;app_id=122963\" width=\"1080\" height=\"608\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; fullscreen; picture-in-picture; clipboard-write\"><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Collaboration and teamwork are paramount for driving results, but they require building meaningful relationships with people across the organization. \u201cCaring is really making the investment to get to know somebody \u2014 their hopes, dreams, desires \u2014 and not just as a resource or an asset, but as a whole person, and supporting that person at their place of highest need,\u201d Ryan said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Support a culture of growth<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To create a people-focused culture that drives the business forward, you need to invest in employee growth and development. \u201cHigh-potentials, top performers \u2014 they want to be invested in, they want to be developed, they want to be supported,\u201d Ryan said. It\u2019s up to leaders to demonstrate that the business values workforce development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Leaders must set the tone for this culture of growth. Embrace change, seek opportunities for learning and development, and encourage others to do the same. When leaders model a growth mindset, they show that continuous improvement is valued and they <a href=\"https:\/\/www.betterworks.com\/magazine\/empowerment-in-the-workplace\/\">empower employees<\/a> to take risks, learn from failures, and embrace new challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By aligning expectations and behaviors, HR leaders can create an environment that supports employee growth and development. &#8220;Creating clearly defined expectations specific to skill and competency,\u201d Ryan said, \u201cand then holding leaders accountable for modeling behavior is, I think, some of the most important work we can do inside HR.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In its simplest form, a culture of growth relies on human interactions. \u201cThe most important thing a leader or manager could be doing is having one meaningful conversation a week with their direct reports or people on their team,\u201d Ryan said. \u201cIt is a catalyst for unleashing human potential and driving performance. \u2026That is the job. The job is to spend time investing, coaching, developing, and supporting your people.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"580\" src=\"https:\/\/www.betterworks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/Ryan-Estis-Webinar-Recap-Internal-1024x580.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-104024\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.betterworks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/Ryan-Estis-Webinar-Recap-Internal-1024x580.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.betterworks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/Ryan-Estis-Webinar-Recap-Internal-980x555.jpg 980w, https:\/\/www.betterworks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/Ryan-Estis-Webinar-Recap-Internal-480x272.jpg 480w\" sizes=\"(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) 1024px, 100vw\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Refocus around human-centered metrics<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You can\u2019t drive long-term business results at the expense of your workforce. \u201cYou want momentum through harmony,\u201d Ryan said. \u201cYou don\u2019t want momentum by burning people out and causing them to suffer.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For many organizations, this requires a mindset change \u2014 from short-term incentives and quarterly targets to a holistic and human-centered approach that supports <a href=\"https:\/\/www.betterworks.com\/magazine\/how-trust-informs-performance-for-long-term-business-value\/\">long-term growth<\/a>. &#8220;Our incentive structures need to change &#8230; We have to take a longer-range view of the business and get back to helping people be human again,&#8221; he said.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Evaluate the quality of your organization&#8217;s human experience, Ryan said.
